Well done to all of you, and to everyone who auditioned - the toughest competition we've had to judge!
THE SCHOOL
Tanya's School of Dance provides lessons for children from the age of 2 to 18, covering Ballet, Tap, Modern, and Street Dance, for both boys and girls, which culminate in two Shows held each year.
I’m sure every parent watching the Show is bursting with pride when their ‘little star’ shines, for me it seems almost impossible as I was told my son would never walk, and he didn’t until he was six years old.
So to see him on the stage “dancing” with the other children makes me not only burst with pride but cry with joy!
My aim for the School is to accept children of all ages and levels, including those with Special Needs, and to help them develop in confidence and ability. No exams are taken, but the children's achievements are measured by the increase in their own self-esteem and the awards made annually.
The School is also very much a 'family' business. Not only was it started by Tanya, my mum, and is now being continued by me, but the whole school is regarded very much as an extended family, from those joining as young as two right up to those who come back from University as Lead Dancers, together with the incredibly supportive family and friends (both those from the school and those with no connection at all!) who help put together the whole package. Everyone is encouraged to feel a sense of belonging, and I welcome those enquiries about how the students and their own families can become even more involved, whether as Lead Dancers or Teaching Assistants, or behind the scenes.
Over the last couple of years, we have achieved a tremendous amount with the School and other activities, and an editorial was run in the December 2007 issue of 'Go Local' magazine, which gave lots more information about what had been happening up till then. If you would like to see a copy, it can be downloaded by clicking here. More news is contained in the Newsletter given out in class each term, and here on the website.
This website is constantly being updated, however all the relevant information on Classes and timetables can be found on this website now. If you would like to see a copy of the complete timetable, please click here.
Information on prices can be found on the Classes page.
If you would prefer to have a brief printed brochure, please give me a call and I will put one in the post to you.
Also, as this website is very much for you, and we would like to be sure that we are providing you with everything you need to find here, please let us know if there is anything you would like to see, or which you would like to comment on, by sending us an email via this link (please could you include a contact number in your email so that we can get back to you quickly). Thank you for your feedback, which will be very useful to us in providing you with as relevant a site as we can.
